3 Modules #18: Rings, Branches, Ears

Описание к видео 3 Modules #18: Rings, Branches, Ears

Eerie tones from looping Rings back into itself! I've had some fun using Ears to maintain a feedback loop previously (see Episode 4), and I wanted to try a different take on that here. I have a feeling that the next Ears patch is going to be something completely different, though. ;)

Patch notes:

Output from Rings is fed back into it's own audio input via Ears. Ears' envelope follower is then used to "clamp down" Rings' brightness and damping the higher the input signal gets.

Additionally, when the signal input to Ears rises above the threshold level, a gate signal is sent to Branches. Whenever this happens, Branches randomly sends an offset signal to either position or structure (that's channel 1) and simultaneosly decides whether or not to send an offset to frequency (that's channel 2). The amount of offset that happens is determined by the corresponding attenuverters on Rings.

Rings is in the "alternative red" mode. I.e. Karplus-Strong synthesis with a built in reverb (tied to the damping parameter). No external effects used this time.

As you can see I'm constantly changing Rings' settings to manipulate the feedback loop. At around 4.30 I leave the system alone to hear it self sustain for a little bit. You can see then how it's teetering at the edge of Ears threshold level, occasionally rising above or dipping below to cause parameter changes.

Thanks for watching!
