Tšekkiläisen Leoš Janáčekin säveltämä Kuolleesta talosta saa ensi-iltansa 23.7. Teos on Oopperajuhlien toinen oma uutuustuotanto. Oopperan ohjaa Walesin kansallisoopperan taiteellinen johtaja David Pountney, joka tuntee säveltäjän tuotannon hyvin.

”Teos on briljantti, musiikki on ilmaisevaa ja horjumatonta. Mielestäni on tärkeää katsoa tekniikoita, joita Janáček sovelsi. Ooppera on elokuvallinen kollaasi, joka on rakennettu tarinoiden ympärille. Se toimii metaforana yhteiskunnalle”, määrittää ohjaaja Pountney.

The opera From the House of the Dead by Czech composer Leoš Janáček premiering on July 23 is the second of the Festival’s own productions this season. The stage director, David Pountney, is Artistic Director of Welsh National Opera and an expert on Janáček.

“It’s a brilliant piece. The music is unbearably expressive,” he says. “It’s interesting to look at the techniques which Janáček uses. It’s really the technique of a cinematographic collage, built round four big narrations. It serves as a metaphor for society.”
