You know, life, right now, if you're not living under a rock, is ummmm….is….its pretty stressful. And sort of not fun. You spend most of your waking hours moving from one screen to another to another, to another.
So if the giantest screen of them all, the big screen, a movie theatre, says come, I will distract you for a bit, with a dumb film, maybe that’s just what you need that day.

The Roses Review by Sucharita Tyagi - The Roses is a highly engaging, clever little film that, despite its familiar premise, manages to stay a step ahead of the viewer, keeping things interesting. Just when you feel like the writing MIGHT be beginning to lean toward making ONE character look more righteous, gears shift just dramatically enough to give you a little AHA without interrupting the blissful ease the film has encased you within. The film exists in its own sit-com-like universe, like watching a long episode of Community, where no one, except the couple’s kids, quite behaves or talks like a real person. It’s ALL just a little bit exaggerated to give the sad story of a long-time couple rapidly falling out of love, the sheen of comedy. Like the fun earrings Ivy wears every day, and the promotional tour this film’s actors have recently been on, it's all ever so slightly whimsical.

Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Theo and Ivy: successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. However, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentments soon emerge when Theo's career nosedives and Ivy's own ambitions take off.
