BYD is taking a significant step forward with the launch of its first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) in the UK, the BYD SEAL U DM-i. This vehicle features the innovative Super DM Technology, designed to offer eco-friendly performance and hassle-free long-distance travel. As a D-segment SUV, the SEAL U DM-i sets new standards in PHEV technology. The BYD SEAL U DM-i is a remarkable all-around family-sized vehicle, offering impressive performance with a total power output of up to 238 kW. This delivers a dynamic driving experience, featuring high power, rapid acceleration, and agile handling.

With acceleration comparable to that of a 2.0T engine, the electric motor boasts an impressive 10 ms-level response time, enhancing driving precision. The Boost variant (front-wheel drive) accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 8.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 106 mph. The Design variant (all-wheel drive) achieves 0-62 mph in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 112 mph. Both versions feature an exceptional drag coefficient of just 0.34 cd and come equipped with Macpherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, ensuring outstanding handling, stability, and ride comfort.

The electric-centric hybrid system also ensures a quiet and smooth driving experience, minimizing noise levels whether on city streets or highways. The vehicle delivers a ride comparable to that of a pure EV, with seamless gear shifts that make for effortless driving and comfortable journeys.

The Boost version offers up to 50 miles of pure electric range, or 671 miles combined, while the Design variant provides up to 43 miles of pure electric range or 540 miles combined.

For added convenience, the BYD SEAL U DM-i comes with faster charging capabilities. Equipped with an 11kW on-board charger as standard, it also supports DC ultra-fast charging, a rare feature for a plug-in hybrid. The 18 kW DC charging option allows the battery to recharge from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes, ensuring quick and easy top-ups for longer journeys.
