How to Paint a Realistic Horse Eye | Detailed Animal Eye Painting for BEGINNERS

This video is about how to paint a realistic looking horse eye along with the skin around it. For this particular eye study, I have used gouache paint which is a very dynamic medium to work with because of its great versatility when it comes to use them both in wash techniques and also as an opaque medium. If you are keen to understand the different aspects associated with painting a realistic looking eye, be it human or animals then I will suggest this is a must watch video for you. Now, going to the process of whole painting I started with a basic drawing and then I painted a thing wash of burnt sienna over the whole area of my subject just to cover the white of the paper. Once I was done with that, I slowly started painting the larger shapes and in that period of time I was not concerned about the colors and the values in particular. Once I established the foundation or the base layer, then I slowly started building the textures of the skin and became more precise with the use of definite colors. Along with that I also tried to blend some areas in order to bind the whole piece together which initially were looking scattered. Then I slowly started adding the smaller little details in order to make the surface look more realistic while having a close eye on my reference image. Following this easy and simple technique I was able to create a realistic looking eye of a horse which I feel, can surely baffle your mind.
