Welcome to my channel. Today, let’s celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with the traditional Ukadicha Modak! Learn to make soft, steamed modak with sweet coconut filling, a classic Maharashtrian recipe. Easy, delicious & festive! Whether you’re offering it as a Prasad to Ganpati at home or taking it to visit your friends & family, it is perfect.

All you need -
For the Modak Covering -
• 1 cup Rice Flour
• 1 tbsp Ghee
• 1 cup Water

For Filling -
• 1 tbsp Ghee
• 1/2 cup Grated Coconut
• 1/4 cup Grated Jaggery
• 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder

Others- Ghee and saffron strands, for garnish

Method -
For the dough-
1. Boil water in a pan. Once it boils, add in ghee and turn off the flame. Then, add in the rice flour to it. Mix it well and turn off the flame. Cover and leave for 10 mins.
2. Then, transfer to a paraat. Knead it well with some ghee.
3. Cover and set aside for 10 mins.
For the filling -
4. Heat ghee in a pan & toast the coconut. Add jaggery to this and heat until the jaggery melts. Then, add cardamom. Remove and set aside to cool.
For shaping the Modak –
5. Pinch out small portions of the dough and fill into the sides of modak mould.
6. Add the filling in centre, and put some more dough to cover from bottom.
7. Now, unmould and place onto the steaming plate and garnish with saffron strands.
8. Steam in a preheated steamer on high flame for about 10 mins.
9. Serve these hot with ghee.
10. Enjoy!!

o Knead the dough well until it is soft & smooth
o Don’t make the modak skin very thick & put enough filling inside it.
