McAlpine Street in Glasgow; close enough to Anderston to be part of Anderston, but in fact it's just within Glasgow's Royalty Boundary, and so is in Glasgow.

And like much of Anderston in the old days, it was once a street full of industry, everything from the Vulcan Foundry to a lead works, a brass works, and almost every other industry you can think of.

And houses. With tenements at the Argyle Street and Broomielaw ends of the street, and a few in the middle around Crimea Street, McAlpine Street wasn't all industry. It was a community, one with normal stuff like a park, a post office and a police station, but al the sort of industries that made Glasgow the Second City of the Great British Empire.

And there's absolutely nothing left.

McAlpine Street has now been totally bulldozed. The last building saw the wreckers ball just a few months ago, and now the only indication that there were ever any industries is the curved kerbstones on the pavement; entrances and exits that once led to and from a business, and which today lead nowhere.
