Because the ordination of Bishop Michael T. Martin, OFM Conv. took place at St. Mark Church in Huntersville on May 29, 2024, Bishop Martin took possession of the Diocese of Charlotte and was installed as Bishop of Charlotte on May 30, 2024 at St. Patrick Cathedral.
Bishop Martin then celebrated Mass for the first time as “the prime steward of the mysteries of God in the particular Church entrusted to his care.” In this celebration of the Eucharist – led by the Bishop himself with the presbyterate, the deacons, and the people taking part – “the mystery of the Church is manifest.”
