** A father and his offspring **

The amphibian genus of Pristimantis is among the most diverse of all vertebrates. These frogs develop directly, meaning there is no tadpole stage, and miniature versions of adult frogs emerge straight from the eggs. Pristimantis tayrona is an endemic species to be found in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park (Columbia). During an expedition with a team by Fundación Atelopus, I could watch and photograph this male specimen with his offspring for hours. There are speculations that this frog species carries out parental care, but further studies are still needed.
