In this video im discussing Question 3 a question on ORGANIC CHEMISTRY: PHYICAL PROPERTIES from a NOVEMBER 2017 Physical Sciences Paper 2,

Answers: (Definitions and explanations)

3.2) VAPOUR PRESSURE -- the pressure exerted by a vapour in equilibrium with its liquid in a closed system.

3.3)

3.3.3) S (Answer): S has the lowest vapour pressure at any given Temperature when compared to P Q or R. This means that the molecules or particles in S have the strongest intermolecular forces, therefore a huge amount of energy is required to break/ overcome the intermolecular forces, hence a low vapour pressure.

I made a mistake in this last question:

3.4.2)
The answer is HIGHER THAN not LOWER THAN

LONG CHAINED COMPOUNDS (Compound P) have Low Vapour Pressure, long chained compounds have more contact surfaces and this increases the strength of intermolecular forces. It becomes a lot harder to overcome these bonds, than intermolecular forces found in branched chains (Isomer of P). Therefore BRANCHED CHAINS have High Vapour Pressure.
