Belmont Mine, Superior, AZ - vertical shaft, we dropped a camera down 300 feet. Video shows a little bit of the hike in, scenery, what's at the mine area now and the exciting camera drop (via string). Not to be missed. It will change your life. It looks a bit like exploring the titanic except there's not much to see but rocks, one spider, a couple pipes and a chunk of steel. At the bottom the camera sees blackness in one direction which is probably a tunnel leading off the shaft. The "trip" down and back up the shaft took about 1 hour. The video has obviously been edited to far less time. About halfway down the whole thing began spinning. Hitting bottom stopped the spin. We lifted and dropped the camera to get views in different directions. Not sure what caused the spinning but most likely guess is that the string's twist started to untwist under the weight on 150 feet of unrolled string. There was no draft coming out of the mine so it seems unlikely it was air movement.

We found another mine with in-place hoist house and hoist by Superior.    • Mine near Superior AZ and also near Q...

Technical details.. We used a Mavic Drone as the main camera so we could see the video in real time. We also had a cheap action cam as a secondary. Anyplace there is sound (besides background music) in the shaft exploration video it's from the action cam, otherwise it's from the Mavic Drone camera. The hike and scenery and hoist house video is from iPhone Camera 4K. For light we used a Harbor Freight LED work light of 1250 lumens. The frame to hold it all was an inexpensive action cam hand hold frame from Amazon. The string was about also from amazon rated about perhaps 10 or 15 pounds, fairly small stuff.
