The Austin and Morris 1100/1300, also known as the ADO16, is celebrating its 50th anniversary since the end of production. The ADO16 was a major success, becoming the UK's best-selling car from 1964 to 1971. It was also popular internationally, with models being manufactured for countries such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Italy, and France. Despite its success, issues with industrial relations, cost-cutting, and build quality affected its reputation towards the end of its production period. However, the ADO16 still holds enduring appeal for many owners. Dave Wilkins, who bought his Austin 1100 in 1999, has kept it running with various modifications and updates. Gordon Diffey enjoys driving his Morris 1100 to car shows, praising its comfortable ride and flexible seating system. Teresa Vincent acquired her Austin 1300 in 2011 and has enjoyed many adventures with it, including a drive from Land's End to John O'Groats. Koren Maddison owns two Austins, using one as a show car and the other for restoration. Terry Waller appreciates the 1100's reliable engine, soft suspension, and spacious interior. Overall, the ADO16 continues to be cherished by its owners for its character and driving experience.
