Foley was conducting a publicity tour of Australia at the time, with professional wrestling undergoing a renaissance worldwide due to the 'Monday Night Wars' between the then World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) and World Championship Wrestling. Foley was a key part of the WWF's 'Attitude Era'.
