In VMware, right-click on the CentOS Linux virtual machine and select "Edit Virtual Machine Settings
In the Hardware tab, click on the Storage section.
Click on the Add button and select the Hard Disk option.
Select the new disk that you want to add.
In the Size field, enter the desired size of the new disk.
Click on the OK button.


logical unit number is a unique identifier for designating an individual or collection of physical or virtual storage devices that execute input/output (I/O) commands with a host computer, as defined by the Small System Computer Interface (SCSI) standard.


Logical Volume Manager (LVM) is a Linux mechanism for dynamically managing disks and disk partitions.
LVM is a kind of technique dynamically managing the disk partitions.

DEV: dev is the directory where all files live.


lsblk command
lsblk displays information about all block storage devices that are currently available on the system.

Sudo lsblk -l

Fdisk - fdisk allows you to create delete, change, resize, copy and move partitions

Can check Disk in Tree format
Lsblk or lsblk -l


View All Disk Partitions

sudo fdisk -l

View Partition on a Specific Disk

sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda



How to Create Hard Disk Partition

First need to add new hard-disk
And need to scan the new added disk



Once scan done check the new assign hard-disk it will be listing

Now can create new partition


Create a Hard Disk Partition

sudo fdisk /dev/sda or fdisk /dev/sdb or fdisk /dev/sdc


once press enter
type n for creating new partition
Now you have to type n


Now you have to type n to create new partition and then type p for making a primary partition and e for making an extended or logical partition depending on the type of partition to make.

So press P for for Primary partition


Then press 1 to assign entire disk

Again press P

AND Press t (type of partition)

Then if we are selecting LVM then type
8e

Now press w (Write and exit from the partition window)
