Beneath it all lies something older. Forgotten tunnels. Buried buildings. And a rumour Frank can’t shake—of a public bathhouse sealed up decades ago after a woman drowned, never demolished, only swallowed by redevelopment.

As Frank begins to notice how often the city points downward—locked basements, stairways to nowhere, sealed service corridors—he realises Newcastle is layered, hollow, and watching. And one winter night, near the abandoned food court, he sees her: barefoot, wet, dressed in lace, waiting at the edge of the light.

This is a story about hidden places, urban decay, and the things cities choose to bury rather than destroy.
