The sound from the guitar goes via the VOX Stomplab IG effectpedal. The VOX Stomplab IG is a multi-effect pedal in which you can edit the sound like you wish and I created 1 new sitarsound with it. The next thing I did was creating some more rhythmic sounds based on this 1 sitarsound. If you listen closely you can hear the different types of rhythm which I have created by adding delay and echo effects to this 1 sitarsound. I created more of them which I maybe will demonstrate in one of the next sitarguitar videos.
In my personal opinion this new sound I created is the most sitarlike of all the sitarsounds I created untill now. I'm quite satisfied with this one. What do you think?

You can experiment on making a sitarlike sound for your guitar if you have a multi effect pedal by mixing the right amount of fuzz, phaser and reverb. Not to much of the fuzz, because than it's going to be to heavy. The fuzz is just to create a little bit of that buzz sound from a sitar. Also not to much of the phaser, because than the waves are going to be to strong and it doesn't sound natural anymore. It is searching and experimenting to come as close as possible to a sitar sound.

By tuning the strings of a guitar into an open D it is more of less possible to play a guitar like a sitar. The 4 thickest strings are only used for the drone tone in D (D-A-D-A) and the 2 thinnest strings are used for the solo parts (A-D). On a sitar is only one string used for the melodies. Because the guitar has not such a long neck comparing to the sitar we have to use 2 strings on the guitar for melodies to get the full range of 2 octaves that is normally used in Indian classical music. It would be also possible to change the thickest strings into thin strings for the drone tone, tuned into D - A. That would even give the guitar more sitarlike sound, because the rhythm strings on a sitar have a high pitch. But I like the sound of the deeper strings for the rhythm. It adds a little bit more body to the sound of the music.
The tuning is this time in 443 Hertz. This is the European tuning for symphonic orchestras.
