Описание к видео Galaxy S25 Edge - Are Thinner Phones Better?

S25 Edge Enhanced Trade-In + Exclusive $50 Samsung credit (affiliate) 👉 https://mikeobrienmedia.com/S25Edge

I had some hands-on time with the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and it is absolutely going to be a controversial phone but who is actually going to buy it? Do the slimness and other perks I’ll mention actually justify the price and compromises? In a way, you are paying a lot for, well, less phone. Lots of people will talk crap on this phone while others will praise it. I am in the middle and I want to explain both sides

ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
The first positive - before even talking about the thickness, this spec’d like the ultra.

Snapdragon 8 Elite
Corning gorilla glass ceramic 2
Titanium frame

256/512

The first drawback though is the smaller battery.

3900mAh battery - roughly the same battery as S25 base model but more than S24 base model

Next positive this is actually so much thinner and lighter than you probably expect
5.8mm and 163g

After filming, I was walking to my train and my phone and wallet were in the same pocket. At this moment, I realized a thinner phone would actually be better. Think about it, if all else was equal, we would probably all pick the thinner phone

Same weight as S25 regular, same size and resolution as S25+

But the first con is that almost everyone will probably put a case on this! Instantly making it less thin, but perhaps with a case, it will be the same thickness as a regular phone without a case

The next positive is the display - 120Hz, QHD+ and 6.7” so that is essentially the same as the S25+. I know a lot of people consider this a large phone and don’t like how large the ultra is.

But there is a negative with that. This is priced between the Ultra and Plus at $1099, it is $200 less than the Ultra but $100 more than the S25 Plus

The next positive is the camera. This has the same primary sensor as the Ultra, with 200MP so you can digitally zoom into 10x with just that lens.

Also has 12MP ultrawide with macro capabilities

But without a telephoto lens, we need to mention the major major downside here. A $1100 phone with no telephoto lens while brands like Nothing are putting periscope lenses on their $450 midrange phones.

But perhaps I am alone in appreciating the telephoto lens. I personally use it all the time. I love the lack of distortion you get with a good periscope lens. I also love the bokeh and of course the ability to get a shot from far away. I know many minimalists appreciate the iPhone 16e and want slimmer phones at the expense of camera lenses.

It is clear to me that Samsung knows this is an experimental phone for early adopters. It seems they are trying to position this as a smaller pro phone.

Personally, I’d rather see a smaller ultra. An Ultra mini maybe. Perhaps a 6.1” S25 Ultra with the same thickness and camera module and everything.

So who will buy this? The price is undoubtedly limiting but for those who can afford it, I am sure there will be people who want a slimmer, lighter, and more futuristic phone.
