It’s been physically tough trying to break through the old concrete floor in the stone house with the hope of increasing headroom in our tiny living space...or at least not losing any after adding a new slab & insulation! After breaking the majority, we now needed to tread carefully (with power tools 🫣) & tackle the more sensitive areas where the rugged foundations intersect the 2’ thick stone walls. As a couple of DIY amateurs with no experience, this was a bit of a nervy experience. This ancient little cottage on our small farm has stood the test of time, so we can’t risk accidentally destabilising the foundations now!

Winter draws nearer & the days are growing shorter, so that means olive season is here in Portugal! We might be a bit late this year but we’re getting the ball rolling on our harvest & dabbling in a curing method that's a bit scary!
