Technology Tour: Mitsubishi J3 Servo with PLC Control

In this video, we're demonstrating the capability of Mitsubishi's J3 servo systems. This system consist of a Q series PLC with Motion Control card and 6 axis of J3 servos.

Three of the servos are driving the carriages on the shared linear motor base and the other three servos are spinning the gears attached directly to the output shafts of rotary motors.

The motion control card in the PLC rack is networked with all six drives through a high speed fiber optic network. The HMI is linked to the PLC through a the bus on the back plane so high speed data transfer from drive to HMI is achieved. The encoders on the rotary motors have 262,144 pulses per revolution which provides extremely high control over position, torque and speed.
