The Department of Urology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has a rich history and timeline dating back to 1917. Its mission is to alleviate patients suffering from urologic disorders through an integrative model of extraordinary clinical care, patient-centred discovery and educational innovation in service of the citizens of Ohio and beyond. The department provides complex and multidisciplinary care across all benign and malignant urologic disease and will serve nearly 22,000 patients this academic year. Clinical and translational research in the department brings innovative care to these patients and over 60% of clinical faculty have grant funding to support their work. The department is particularly proud of the growth in its Office of Education which currently spans a broad pipeline from Middle School to Urology Residents and Subspecialty Fellows. The department is part of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, one of the nation’s leading academic health centers, which is home to more than 20 research centers and institutes and 25 core research laboratories that promote collaboration among experts from virtually all departments, divisions and branch campuses. Faculty hold appointments in the Ohio State University College of Medicine which has trained more than 20,000 physicians across 19 clinical departments, seven basic science departments, and a comprehensive health sciences campus.
