Johan Rockström on navigating planetary boundaries for a sustainable future

Speaking at the 2024 Frontiers Planet Prize (FPP) awards ceremony in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland - Prof Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Chair of the Jury of 100 for the Frontiers Planet Prize, delves into the science behind planetary boundaries and highlights the urgent need for transformative change.

Johan Rockström is internationally recognized for his work on global sustainability issues. He led the development of the planetary boundaries framework, first published in 2009 and updated in 2015 and now 2022, and is also an expert on global water resources. He acts as an advisor on sustainable development issues at international meetings including the World Economic Forum and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences. Johan is joint director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Professor in Earth System Science at the University of Potsdam, Germany.
