About Uluu | https://www.uluu.com.au/
Uluu is on a mission to tackle the global plastic crisis, mitigate climate change, and restore ocean health. They have developed ocean-derived materials that can potentially replace the 400 million tonnes of plastic produced annually. Their key innovation is PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate), a naturally produced and home-compostable plastic alternative. Unlike other natural materials, PHA possesses the unique ability to mimic the properties of plastic, including water repellency, lightweight, durability, and compatibility with existing production lines. Uluu utilises seaweed, a renewable carbon source, as the feedstock for PHA production. This approach offers economic advantages and provides a sustainable pathway to scale carbon production and reduce dependence on fossil fuels in the polymer economy. The company is leading the way towards a plastic-free world, ending our reliance on fossil fuel-based plastics and promoting environmental sustainability.
