How to study effectively and increase exam scores using The Testing Effect

Описание к видео How to study effectively and increase exam scores using The Testing Effect

The Testing Effect can boost your exam scores by 10-40%. That can be the difference between passing or failing, getting an A or a B, or getting a 1st or a 2:1. In a nutshell, The Testing Effect is the concept of taking exam-focussed practice-tests or quizzes before and after reading new material, with the addition of feedback. This then improves your retention of the material, allowing you to remember more of the things you learn and score a higher mark when you're tested further down the line in a final-test. Unfortunately this strategy is severely under-utilised mainly due to the misconception “I need to have learnt it well enough before I test myself”. We often think of testing as a method to check understanding and memory of something, rather than as part of the learning process. But, by not testing ourselves earlier, we're actually wasting one of, if not the most powerful evidence-based study tool. Another reason why The Testing Effect is under-utilised is due to the merging of active recall and The Testing Effect, rather than appreciating their differences and strengths. So, I want to clear up these misconceptions and share my 3 step process that has been scientifically proven to boost your exam scores. Try it out and let me know how it works for you. #study #exam #tips
