Скачать или смотреть H2020 ENCLUDE: “Empowering prosumerism and citizen investments in photovoltaic and storage systems”

This video is the fifth and final one from a series of short videos developed in the context of the European Commission-funded Horizon 2020 project “ENCLUDE”. The video adds to the presentation of a series of different modelling applications involving a diverse set of energy system models and case studies across the European Union to quantify the decarbonisation impact of different manifestations of energy citizenship at the local, the regional, and the national levels.

Here, we present the application of a dynamic high-resolution demand-side management model (DREEM) to calculate the economic and environmental benefits of citizen-driven investments in residential photovoltaic and battery storage systems in 11 different European Union’s cities and five (5) Member States.

We also present the application of an agent-based technology adoption model (ATOM) to upscale solar potential in each city, exploring further citizen adoption of small-scale photovoltaic and battery storage systems and investigating the effect of different policy schemes towards the achievement of the respective national targets by 2030.

We explore three (3) different potential evolutions of the future:
🔹 “Familiar World”: Referring to the current national policy planning, citizens follow the current status-quo of decarbonisation efforts.
🔹 “Unified World”: Referring to a future where citizens unite against the climate crisis, they take ownership of the energy transition in their community and invest in prosumerism.
🔹 “Fragmented World”: Referring to a future where citizens keep relying on fossil fuels and in-house lignite as the primary means of energy planning, due to a false and outdated sense of energy security, and, thus, hesitate to embrace prosumerism.
