"Africa" by Toto - (full band cover by Jeff Williams)

One of my friends on Facebook challenged me to record a cover version of this ubiquitous 80's classic, and I was happy to oblige. I could have done a straight cover that mimics the original, but I wanted to try something a little more unique. In this video, I am playing 11 different instruments, including two traditional African instruments: a West African ashiko (hand drum), and a Hugh Tracey alto kalimba, which I detuned in order to make the riff much easier to play. I'm also playing a hammered dulcimer, but that's more of a Middle Eastern instrument. I hope you enjoy my unique take on this song.
