In this calculus math example, we demonstrate how to solve limits of a function that contains a square root. The first step to the process is to evaluate the expression by substituting the value that our variable is approaching in for the variable and simplify. Because we get 0/0, we continue our quest.

Noticing that there is a square root in the numerator, we multiply both numerator and denominator by the conjugate of the numerator. Each step of multiplying out the numerator is explained and we simplify as much as possible. The result has a common factor between the numerator and denominator that are simplified to get our problem to lowest terms. (This is allowed because we are taking a limit.) The resulting expression is then evaluated at the value our variable is approaching and we have our result of the limit.
