The amended ordinance retains the recognition of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the four national leaders and members of the Mujibnagar government as freedom fighters. Adviser on Liberation War Affairs Faruk-e-Azam said that even if the designations are changed, the status of the collaborators of the Liberation War will not be diminished. The adviser said this at a briefing at the Secretariat this morning on the 'National Freedom Fighters Council Amendment Ordinance' issued on Tuesday night.

বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান, জাতীয় চার নেতা ও মুজিবনগর সরকারের সদস্যদের মুক্তিযোদ্ধা স্বীকৃতি বহাল রয়েছে সংশোধিত অধ্যাদেশে। পদবী পরিবর্তন হলেও মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সহযোগীদের মর্যাদা ছোট হবে না বলে জানিয়েছেন মুক্তিযুদ্ধ বিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা ফারুক ই আজম। মঙ্গলবার রাতে জারি হওয়া 'জাতীয় মুক্তিযোদ্ধা কাউন্সিল সংশোধন অধ্যাদেশ নিয়ে সকালে সচিবালয়ে ব্রিফিংয়ে একথা জানান উপদেষ্টা।
