This video is explaining why I transitioned to male to begin with. I hope this can shed light on other people's situations, whether they're transitioning, curious or detransitioning and want someone to relate to. Not trying to dissuade or discourage, just food for thought!

Most of these are theories but they resonate strongly with me. When you're young and confused, running around like a headless chicken, I don't think you're ever thinking straight and concretely (meaning, I don't think I had a specific and substantial reason behind my choice). I find my case to be somewhat unique only because I haven't heard of anyone else going through the same thing (similar, yes, but not the same). I was never pressured to be a girl (nor a boy, for that matter), but I think what got me the most was that "male superiority" and "feminine BAD" motif running around my circle of awareness. Least, that was MY perception.

All in all, I think it's just complex with several different factors going into it. I believe the main take-away to any detransitioner is escapism. I wanted to escape femininity. I wanted to make this video to expand upon the reasons why people detransition. It's not just sexual assault, anorexia nervosa, gender role pressures or difficulties accepting being gay or lesbian. My case is more within the bounds of gender role pressures but it's not as clear cut as escaping the expectations.

Also, I do largely blame the information posted wildly on the internet that kids and teens can access and do what they will with it with their impressionable minds. Back in 2011, there seemed to be no information on the potential risks of transitioning (besides some warnings of irreversible stuff but that doesn't mean much to someone who's determined to be trans). Like I say in video, no adults knew that the heck I was going through so all they did was just support me, which was damaging because I needed someone to make me think critically on my decisions and reasoning. I needed to be challenged and support is the opposite of that.
