Guide to Cleaning 50cc Dirtbike Carburetor

These little dirt bikes have such small carburetors they will get clogged with even a grain of sand, it seems like.

Someone many years ago told me- "If you clean the carb and it still won't run, try cleaning the carb again, but better"

It's not surprising to me that my first time wrenching on a Yamaha PW50 is to clean the carb when it won't start for a friend. Virtually all PW50s are the same and this applies to many other years, makes, and model bikes with carburetors.

If you can't salvage the gasket and jets, here is a rebuild kit you can get on Amazon- confirm the years before buying though.
