Making My Own Trumpet Mouthpiece - High Notes

Описание к видео Making My Own Trumpet Mouthpiece - High Notes

WARNING - Mouthpiece talk/video…

My personal experience has been that upper register playing really didn’t start working for me until I started making my own mouthpiece prototypes. I know that for many trumpeters, trying different equipment can be a devastating rabbit hole. For me, it really opened my eyes. I started building my own mouthpieces according to how I play, rather than trying to make something work that did’t quite fit. I must be unique, because what works for most, REALLY doesn’t work for me. So far, no one plays well on the equipment I’ve made for myself. You likely won’t ever see a TimSaeger line of mouthpieces…
A BIG shout out to Doug Meeuwsen Doug Meeuwsen (http://www.meeuwsenmouthpieces.com) for teaching me how to do all of this.
I am an amateur when it comes to making mouthpieces (probably making a lot of mistakes in this video). Doug, a pro, takes my prototypes and makes copies with professional cuts, often modifying them to be even better. Anyone interested in custom work, modifications, or want to try his line of mouthpieces and backbores should contact him. He is located in Vista, CA. He has a wealth of knowledge in this area. I have learned so much talking to him.
Anyway… my students are all on break (ski week), so I had a bit of extra time to fool around making some pieces. I THINK I FOUND A KEEPER! Enjoy the video.
