STORYLINE:
Amman municipality workers started to clean up the Royal wedding processional route on Friday morning after the historic wedding festivities concluded the day before.

They cleared up the route between Zahran Palace, where the Islamic Marriage Ceremony for the Crown Prince Al Hussein and Miss Rajwa Alseif took place, and Al-Husseiniya Palace, where the reception and main party took place.

Thousands of flags, posters and banners are still decorating the main streets in the capital.

Jordanians described the wedding as historical and unprecedented in the Arab World.

“It was a purely Jordanian historical national wedding,” said Raed Ghousheh.

Jordan’s crown prince has married the scion of a prominent Saudi family in a palace celebration attended by royals and other VIPs from around the world.

Massive crowds gathered in a mood of excitement across the kingdom, as the young Hashemite royal was presented to a global audience.

It emphasizes continuity in an Arab state prized for its stability and refreshes the monarchy’s image after a bitter palace feud.

Experts consider the marriage an advantageous alliance for the Hashemites, historic rivals of the Al Saud family to the east.

Jordan has recently sought closer ties with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab petro-states, which once doled out billions of dollars to the aid-dependent country but since have reined in their spending.
