Some people are more susceptible to developing headaches than others. Migraines in particular are genetic. Women also tend to have headaches three times more frequently than men. The reason for this is hormonal. Many women who suffer from migraines notice that their migraines occur less frequently once they go through menopause.

Medical treatments for migraine headaches include different types of medications. There also are interventional treatments such as botulinum toxin injections which can really help for people who experience a lot of migraines. There also is a procedure called a nerve block where half of the head can be anesthetized.
