Blood vessels are part of the circulatory system and are classified into three main types, each with distinct structures and functions:

Arterioles control how much blood enters the capillary beds of tissues and organs.

The smallest and thinnest blood vessels, connecting arterioles to venules.
Thin walls (one cell thick) allow for the exchange of gases, nutrients, and waste products between blood and tissues.
Capillaries form networks known as capillary beds, enabling efficient transport.

4. what is venule and their function - Anatomy

Small blood vessels that collect deoxygenated blood from capillaries and transport it to veins.
Venules gradually merge to form larger veins, continuing the return of blood to the heart.
They have thinner walls than arterioles and are involved in immune responses by allowing white blood cells to pass into tissue.

Large vessels that carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
Thinner walls and larger lumens compared to arteries.
Contain valves to prevent backflow, especially important in the legs where blood must travel upward against gravity.
