As summer comes to a close, I’m thrilled to share one of my most ambitious projects yet — a bassoon ensemble cover of “A Town With an Ocean View” from Kiki’s Delivery Service, composed by the legendary Joe Hisaishi. 🌊🎶

This piece has always resonated with me, both musically and emotionally. It captures the spirit of adventure, independence, and quiet wonder that defines Kiki’s Delivery Service — a Studio Ghibli classic directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

The setting of the film is heavily inspired by several beautiful European coastal cities, especially the architecture and atmosphere of Stockholm, Sweden, and other port towns across Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. I've included some videos to reference the settings to the movie itself.

Scored entirely for bassoon ensemble, this cover has been a true labor of love — from layering the warm harmonies to capturing the movement and magic of the original soundtrack. It was originally meant to be the 25,000 subscriber special but the audio engineering took WAAAAAY longer than expected. Anyway, please enjoy!
