In a recent press conference, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, announced a six-week gun amnesty period. Additionally, a temporary ban on firearm importation, sale, and licensing will allow the ministry to audit existing records and transition to a fully digital management system. The minister also stressed the importance of engaging traditional authorities to regulate firearm use during cultural events.
