Crude oil in Sunflower is the latest talk that people believe. As they cannot see sunflower farming anywhere in the country, they started thinking that sunflower oil with crude oil is what we get in the market. This fact is not true according to Mr. Manivel, the Nutritional researcher. Crude oil which is a source material of petroleum cannot go well with any vegetable oil. The molecular weight of crude oil is between 300 to 600 while for vegetable oil it is 900. The lower the molecular weight, the higher the smoking point.
If crude oil is cooked, the whole kitchen will be covered by smoke but none of our kitchens faces this issue. Also, vegetable oil is digestive and crude oil is in-digestive to humans. India imports sunflower oil from countries like Ukraine and Argentina where they have huge farms that harvest sunflower seeds. This clearly proves that sunflower oil is not produced from crude oil. we import more and meet our consumption.
