Chand Sadagar was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Manasa couldn’t become Goddesses if Chand Sadagar didn’t worship her but she had to become Goddesses in order to protect the world. She tried all the tricks to force Chand Sadagar to worship her but he didn’t worship her. Chand Sadagar told Manasa “You can never stop me from worshipping Lord Shiva”. Manasa replies “I don’t want you to stop worshiping Lord Shiva but I want you to worship me along Lord Shiva”. Chand Sadagar still refused to worship Manasa and his devotion towards Lord Shiva was turning into arrogance (ego). He had six sons who are the gift of Lord Shiva. Since he had arrogance towards his devotion, he didn’t deserve to have those six sons, so Manasa sent snakes to kill his six sons, so they could get a better life. Besides his six sons he had another son named Lakhindar. When Lakhindar was a baby, Chand Sadagar promised his friend that if his friend has a daughter then he will get Lakhindar and his friend's daughter married. After a year his friend had a daughter named Behula. Behula was a great devotee of Maa Durga. Manasa Devi used to come in her dreams as Goddesses so Behula was also a great devotee of Manasa Devi too. Lakhindar and Behula were growing up as if they were made of each other. When Lakhindar and Behula got older, Chand Sadagar and his friend decided to marry them off but before their marriage Manasa told Chand Sadagar that Lakhindar will die on his wedding night, only if he doesn’t worship Manasa because he doesn’t deserve to have Lakhindar as his child. Chand Sadagar ignored her with his arrogance. After the marriage of Behula and Lakinder, Manasa sent a snake named Kalnagini, the most poisonous snake to kill Lakhindar on his wedding night. Lakhindar died due to a snake bite. To get back Lakhindar’s life from God, Behula went to Heaven with her husband’s dead body. She faced many obstacles during her incredibly long and difficult journey in the rivers. But she never gave up and had complete faith in Manasa Devi and kept moving forward. After reaching Heaven she sees all the Gods and Manasa Devi too. She requests Manasa Devi to give back her husband's life. Manasa Devi tells her that she has to earn her husband's life back by her Shringar dance. Shringar dance is a pure dance that is presented by husband and wife. She pleases Manasa Devi with her Shringar dance by herself. Manasa Devi gives Lakhindar's life back. Manasa tells Behula “In your fate, you deserve to have the happiness of being a wife but in your father-in-law’s fate he doesn’t deserve to get the happiness of being a father because his child is the gift of his devotion towards Lord Shiva but once his devotion turns into arrogance then he won’t deserve to have that precious gift. So now it’s your duty to convince your father-in-law to worship me as goddesses so I will be able to protect the world”. Behula returns to Earth with her husband. She tells her father-in-law the reason for Manasa Devi to become Goddess. Then, Chand Sadagar realises his mistake and worships Manasa Devi. Manasa Devi was pleased with Chand Sadagar devotional and she returned Chand Sadagar’s six son's life. Also, she gives Behula a boon that there will be a festival on her name. Whoever prays Manasa Devi with pure devotion, they would be safe from any kind of poison or ill-ness. It is said Usha and Anirudha were reincarnated (reborn) as Behula and Lakhindar. Usha is the daughter of Banasura who is a demon and Anirudha is the grandson of Sri Krishna who is God. In my other video I will tell you guys more about Anirudha and Usha.
