November 10, 1775 — The Birth of the United States Marine Corps.

On this day, during the early days of the American Revolution, the Continental Congress met in Philadelphia and issued a historic resolution — the creation of two battalions of Marines.

Recruitment began at Tun Tavern, a small pub that became the legendary birthplace of the U.S. Marine Corps. From that moment, a proud brotherhood of warriors was born — men who would fight both on land and at sea, defending the young nation’s freedom.

Over the centuries, the Marines have stood at the front lines of history — from Tripoli to the Pacific, from the beaches of Normandy to modern battlefields around the world. Their courage, discipline, and sacrifice became symbols of American strength.

Guided by their eternal motto — “Semper Fidelis”, meaning “Always Faithful” — the Marines continue to protect and serve with honor.
