Journalism Safety and Laxmanrekha, a two-day state-wide media conference hosted by O J U (Odisha Journalists Union), was officially opened at the conference centre in Murgabadi, Baripada , Mayurbhanj district. The event was planned to commemorate the first Shraddha anniversary of the late Rohit Biswal, a Kalahandi District correspondent who died while reporting and trapped by landmines. There was moreover a seminar called "Sambadik Suraksha O Laxmanrekha." held. Mayurbhanj District Magistrate Mr Vineet Bharadwaj, S P Mr. Rusikesh Dayandeo Khilari Under the direction of O J U State President Mr. Shashibhushan Praharaj, and District Council Chief Development Officer Mr. Daulat Chandrakar attended the inauguration ceremony. On this occasion, Senior Journalist, Dr. Vijay Agarwal, delivered the opening interpretation. The welcoming address was given by O J U District President Mr Deepak Kumar Nayak, and the stage was moderated by Journalist Mr Abhijit Mohanty. Former Revenue Minister, and, MLA Bangiriposhi Mr Sudam Marndi, MLA Muruda Mr Rajkishore Dashboard, District Council Chairperson Mrs Bharti Hansda, and Social Activist Mr Murari Lal Sharma participated as guests in the second session. On this stage with them were senior correspondent Mr. Kalyan Kumar Sinha and Dr. Agarwal. He talked about how a journalist's job is to report the news, not to risk their existence by going into risky conditions and reporting it. The 10-fold demand for reimbursement ranging from 2 lakhs to 10 lakhs and lifetime allowance was discussed after journalists were flagged. This programme included participation from journalists from several districts and blocks. In the evening, a number of cultural events were held.
