Jerky movements in sleep or in bed can be very frightening or concerning. I definitely remember the times when I experienced these and didn’t understand what might be wrong with me.

But the more I learned about jerky movements, these different things that can vary from jolting in bed, sleep jerks, jumping in sleep, the more I started to understand why they happen and what I can do about preventing them.

What’s really very important with these kinds of unusual jerky movements is that you don’t self-diagnose based on just watching a few videos. These movements can happen for various reasons, including some sleep disorders and other medication conditions, so please make sure you seek assessment if these are going on for a longer period of time.

So let’s turn our attention to how to stop jerky movements at night

In today’s video, we’re going to break these down to three different parts of the night: jerky movements when going to bed initially, jerky movements in the middle of the night and jerky movements early morning.

In my practice working with clients, I have seen many different version of these, different body movements from twitching, jolting, jumping, kicking out just to name a few.

And the way I approach this with clients will always depend on what the particular client experiences.

Not everyone experiences these, so it’s important that you start with your own experience and how heightened and frequent these jerky movements are.

Some clients experiences these rarely, some more often, others are completely troubled by them.

There are a number of different ways you can learn to stop these jerky movements happening at night. So have a look at the different parts of the video depending on which part of your night these show up and I’ll introduce you to how I work with these with my clients.

This way, you’ll be in the best position to look at how these relate to you. You can then make a plan to improve these in your life. But do remember to look at the practical picture as well as the bigger picture when it comes to your sleep struggles.
