Once you see the second set of leaves, it’s officially the beginning of the vegetative stage.

The ideal temperature to maintain at this stage is 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

Maintain a light regimen of, lights on for 18 hours and off for 6.

Lower lights closer to the plants.

Fertilizing during the Vegetative stage

Use fertilizers with a high % of N (nitrogen) and a lower % of P (phosphorus) and K (potassium) are best for this stage.

For example, NPK 9-5-8.

Once your plants have reached 12” in height, it’s time to transplant them into 2-gallon pots.

The new soil mix should have higher levels of nutrients high in nitrogen.

As plants grow and flower they will need staking.

Continue to keep your plants watered and fertilized according to the recommended doses.

Don’t over water! You will know it’s time to water when the soil feels dry up to your first knuckle.

Collect water runoff with trays under your planters. Let the plants dry out between watering.

Move your lights closer to your plants and adjust them higher as they grow.

HIS and LED lamps need more distance from your plants because they run hotter.
