NoBo 10.7 Off Road Camper Walkthrough - 1 Year of Adventuring

A quick walkthrough of my No Boundaries 10.7 Adventure Camper by Forest River RV.

After a year of ownership, I have been really impressed with the Off Road capabilities of this NoBo 10.7 Adventure Camper. I have been towing it with a lifted Toyota 4Runner and the camper is light enough that even when loaded with gear, it tows well. But when I go off trail, I have been VERY impressed by the "Beast Mode" lifted suspension. Then when we all get to the campsite, I am usually the groups camp cook with all the room I have with the rear hatch kitchen.

I didn't get my NoBo with the roof top tent because it is just me and I had no need for it. Instead, I installed a cargo rack on top, next to the kayak mounts for the added storage. With the cargo rack, the camper is a bit lighter but a LOT less top heavy. I have been on the trail, convinced the camper was just a few degrees from rolling and it handled the trail amazingly well. An added bonus is that when I store the solar panels on the roof rack, I can run the cable down and charge the battery bank while I travel.

The biggest drawback I have found is that this is not more of a true "off-grid" camper. It operates best when at an official campground because most of the larger comfort items, like the fancy fireplace heater and the A/C unit, need to be plugged into power or a generator. I have considered adding a large DC inverter, but it involves a lot of rewiring and so for how I use this camper, I just always travel with my small Honda 2200i Gen for when I really need 120 vac. The camper seems insulated pretty well so if you heat it or cool it and keep the doors shut, it holds temp well.

The biggest upgrade I installed to help with staying OFF grid and ON trail is the solar system! Most of the solar systems that you can buy to connect directly to the "Wired for Solar" plug on most campers, are a joke. So I built a custom solar system with an upgraded charge controller, a foldable set of panels and a much larger dual battery bank, so everything stays powered without a gap. With Renogy app connected to the whole system, so I can monitor everything, I don't worry about power anymore.

Since it's just me and my dog when I go out, I built a raised platform bed for the additional storage and ease of moving around inside in the tight space. The platform bed is easily removable, to return it to a queen sized dual sleeper again. Since the platform is removeable, I also wrapped the platform edge in a felt strip to make sure that the platform doesn’t rub against the walls and molding and cause scrapes. On the exterior, I also de-badged most of the ridiculous decals and stickers that were plastered all over the camper when you first buy one. It gives it much more of a clean look.
