This is a video of an E. coli replisome as seen from 4 separate camera angles. an analysis is located at (http://bit.ly/c2v4Ni). The video is 18 seconds and in those 18 seconds, the lagging strand cycles 3 Okazaki fragments while the leading strand synthesizes nonstop. The 4 main parts are: 1. the helicase (unwinding the DNA), 2. the clamp loader that's loading beta clamps on the lagging strand), 3. the leading polymerase core and 4. the lagging polymerase core. This video was originally posted by the wehi.edu folks about 3 years ago, but since then they have taken it off and instead replaced it with a single view with narration. while the narrated video is nice, i felt the multiple views were also very useful for those of us who have a hard time visualizing this. I tried to get them to re-post the old video but it seems nobody is over there. My main reason for posting this was to share valuable information, so if this violates any rules, sorry, it was in the interest of sharing educational information.
