After multiple attempts to load and reload Saint Guthlac's Mastery Wolf trial I was able to complete it in a combination of luck, sheer perseverance and Ubisoft's bugged collision system where I was able to go out of bounds and kill the guards that spawned there.

Not even Ubisoft will prevent me from getting my gold medal.
