Islamorada Swordfish Heartbreaking Daiwa Seaborg 1200 Swordfish?

My first attempt, got tight on 2nd drop. Just me and my girls. I skimped and didn’t buy the harpoon and in that moment I would’ve paid anything to have one.
I picked a spot the night before, conditions were perfect so we went. On the way out my Garmin stopped reading bottom at 800ft so wasn’t sure of exact depth but I think we were in 1800ft. I saw a boat a few miles away so I figured we were in the right area. Came in a little to about 1600ft. Dropped 10lbs and hit bottom at 2100ft of line out. Pulled up 100ft and drifted about 20mins at 3mph. Bait was a naked squid on 150ft 250lbs wind-on and 70lbs braid. I noticed some irregular tip movements, waited about 10 mins and pulled it up and came tight. Rod holder broke, reel was smoking. It made 3 hard runs after I removed the weight. On the last run I got it back to the boat but tightened the drag too much. We circled for about 10mins with it next to the boat, every time I grabbed the leader it would freak out. I crimped the bait on too long so it was out of gaff reach. Then revived he woke up made a run under the boat and pulled the hook. I haven’t slept since thinking of all the stuff I could’ve done differently🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
Great memory for my girls but could’ve been epic if we landed it. I bought a harpoon the next day.
