Astronomy on Tap is a global phenomenon where professional scientists give informal science talks in local bars with accompanying pub trivia and interactions with the public. The Los Angeles chapter of Astronomy on Tap is very active, with monthly events at the Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena. This recording is a bit noisy due to the logistics of operating a camera in a crowded bar, but it sufficiently captures the enthusiastic energy of the few hundred attendees each month. Stella Ocker is a postdoctoral fellow in astrophysics at Caltech and the Carnegie Observatories. She
studied physics at Oberlin College as an undergraduate before earning her PhD in astrophysics at Cornell in 2023. Her work focuses on studying radio wave propagation through the interstellar and circumgalactic media of the Milky Way and other galaxies. She has worked as part of the Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav) and on the Voyager Interstellar Mission. https://stella-ocker.github.io/
