The Tragedy of Rodwell End Farm. Todmorden

After previously filming this abandoned farm for the channel, I received comments from people who had recollections of a possible historic murder taking place at the farm. Tom and I began to research but found no trace of such an incident being recorded. However, what we did find was a series of tragic suicides linked to the barn next to the farm.

On at least 4 occasions, somebody has taken their own life in the barn. 2 people within the same family. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are usually regarded as temporal insanity or of unsound mind. Today, we understand mental health much better, and there is far less stigma attached to talking and being open about depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. Sadly, these 4 people lived in a very different and difficult time.
