Hi guys! Watch this video if you need an extra boost while studying for the NAVLE! In this video, I go through a very long NAVLE practice question that has an image courtesy of VetPrep. I hope it helps! Please like and subscribe and feel free to comment down below :)

While sorting cattle with his owner yesterday, a 2-year-old intact male Blue Heeler named Tucker was kicked by one of the cows. Today he presents to you in respiratory distress. He has an orthopneic posture and a respiratory pattern of shallow, rapid breaths with an abdominal component. T 104.1°F, HR 220, RR 110, MM pale pink, CRT 1.5 seconds, systolic BP is 135 mmHg. There is an obvious area of bruising and edema on his left thorax, and an abrasion on the left side of his face. Tucker is very distressed and anxious, so you give an intramuscular injection of butorphanol to help calm him enough for thoracic radiographs and then place him on oxygen supplementation via face mask. The lateral radiograph is shown below. CBC/Chemistry profiles were unremarkable. Blood gas analysis documents hypoxemia and a respiratory acidosis. What is the next best step?
