This ONE Day of Fasting = 2 YEARS of Sins Forgiven! (Most Muslims Miss It)
What if I told you there's ONE day where fasting erases TWO FULL YEARS of sins?
And most Muslims either don't know about it or forget to fast it.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ called this the most blessed day of fasting outside of Ramadan.
🌟 THE DAY:
The Day of Arafah - 9th of Dhul Hijjah (the day before Eid al-Adha)
📖 THE HADITH:
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Fasting the Day of Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates the sins of the year before and the year after."
(Sahih Muslim 1162)
Let that sink in:
ONE day of fasting
TWO years of sins forgiven
Past year: WIPED
Coming year: COVERED
🎯 WHY IS IT SO POWERFUL?
1. The Best Day of the Year
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah." (Sahih Muslim 1348)
2. Allah's Special Attention
Allah descends to the lowest heaven and boasts to the angels about the people of Arafah: "Look at My servants! They have come to Me disheveled and dusty, seeking My mercy!"
3. Completion of Religion
On this day, the verse was revealed: "This day I have perfected for you your religion." (Quran 5:3)
4. The Day Shaytan is Most Humiliated
Because of the mercy and forgiveness Allah pours down.
🕌 WHO SHOULD FAST?
✅ Everyone NOT performing Hajj
If you're at home (not in Arafah), you should fast this day.
❌ Hajjis should NOT fast
The Prophet ﷺ did not fast on Arafah while performing Hajj, so pilgrims have strength for worship.
📅 WHEN IS IT?
The Day of Arafah is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (the 12th Islamic month).
IMPORTANT: This changes every year in the Gregorian calendar because the Islamic calendar is lunar.
🌙 HOW TO MAXIMIZE THIS DAY:
If You're Fasting:
Make sincere intention the night before
"I intend to fast the Day of Arafah for the sake of Allah"
Fast from Fajr to Maghrib
Complete the fast properly
Increase good deeds all day:
Recite Quran abundantly
Make dua constantly (dua is especially accepted)
Seek forgiveness (say Astaghfirullah 100+ times)
Send salawat on the Prophet ﷺ
Give charity (even small amounts)
Remember Allah with dhikr
Make dua before breaking fast
The dua of a fasting person is accepted
Don't waste time
This is literally your chance for 2 years of sins forgiven—treat it sacred
🤲 BEST DUAS FOR DAY OF ARAFAH:
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best supplication is the supplication on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
"La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir"
"There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion, and His is the praise, and He has power over all things."
(Tirmidhi 3585)
Say this ABUNDANTLY on Arafah.
Also make the comprehensive dua:
"Rabbana aatina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-aakhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaban-naar"
(Our Lord, give us good in this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the Fire)
⚠️ DON'T MISS IT!
Here's the reality:
Ramadan comes once a year → 29-30 days of reward
Day of Arafah comes once a year → ONE day = TWO YEARS of forgiveness
Missing Ramadan is a tragedy.
Missing Arafah is a missed opportunity for MASSIVE mercy.
Mark your calendar RIGHT NOW.
Set multiple reminders.
Tell your family.
Prepare mentally and spiritually.
🎁 BONUS: THE FIRST 10 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH
The Day of Arafah falls within the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah—the most blessed days of the year.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." (Bukhari 969)
So from the 1st to 9th of Dhul Hijjah:
Fast as many days as you can (especially the 9th—Arafah)
Increase dhikr, dua, charity, Quran
Make takbir: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallahu wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd"
Then on the 10th = Eid al-Adha (day of sacrifice and celebration)!
📚 THE MERCY OF ALLAH:
Think about this:
You fast ONE day (sunrise to sunset)
Allah forgives TWO YEARS of your sins
The past year you've already lived
The coming year you haven't even sinned yet
This is the generosity of Allah.
He gives you forgiveness before you even commit the sin.
