Practice for Second Half Opener July 2024

Well not the best practice day. We started out trying a new way to tack the boat and we immediately ran aground! Next Quinn twisted her ankle, and it began to swell up. It looked terrible. We then decided to forget about the tacking practice and just go sailing. We headed out to the slot and the wind freshened up a bit and Quinn's ankle got worse, so we decided to just come back to Marina Village. When we turned around and put up the heavy kite, immediately it dropped in the water. The foredeck deployed the kit perfectly but no one at the back of the boat secured the halyard. Within a few seconds the entire kite was in the water. (Check this out at the 56:56 mark on the video. It is very much OK to laugh.) After that fiasco we did a few gibes and got back to the marina. Quinn says she is feeling better and Brandon the driver will be checking the boat this week. Oh well not every day sailing can be perfect. :)
